Vacation Village

Largo, FL

With only one full weekend in town, it did not feel like we had a lot of time to explore or do things, but we did what we could.

Dan’s favorite band, Murder by Death, was on their farewell tour and playing a concert in Tampa on 11/10. Since we knew we would be in central Florida, we decided to spend 2 weeks in Tampa so he could go. I do not listen to their music on my own but if I had to describe their style it would be a mix of Folk, Gothic, and Western.

For my birthday, Dan had gotten me a gift certificate for a massage that I was able to cash in when we were in the Tampa area. The gal I had did a great job and if I am in the area and in need of a massage, I would definitely book with her again.

I had no idea the first Hooters location was in Clearwater but one night after work we ended up at the original Hooters for some wings and beer. There was an FSU volleyball game on so I ended up having a really fun time.

We were also able to meet up with Kim for brunch at the Green Iguana. The drinks and food were delicious and it was great to see her.

Fort De Soto

We finally had a proper beach day! The water was not warm enough to go swimming but it was warm enough to sit out and enjoy the beach. We stopped at Publix on our way to Fort De Soto and had a little picnic on the beach. The sand was white and the water was clear. It was a really nice park and a place I could have spent multiple days visiting, we just did not have the time.

We ended up staying to watch the sunset and then went on an adventure to try and find a tiki bar. The first one we stopped at was not what we were looking for. The second one looked more promising but it ended up being a bust. Drinks were subpar and the food was so bad we didn’t finish anything we ordered.

Crochet Updates

As it was getting close to Christmas I wanted to make sure I got a head start on some of the gifts I was making.

I knew I wanted to make a little something for Allison’s son (2) and eventually found a cute pattern for dinosaurs and a volcano. They all fit into the volcano for storage and I was happy with how it came out.

Dan had been working on a care package for his kid (19) so I decided to make a stuffed Baphomet to include.

Something I have noticed is the more I crochet or craft, the less time I have to do things like keep my blog up to date.

Thanks for being patient while I balance all the nuances of working full time and traveling full time.

Campground Website – Full Map

  • Site 136 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
    • Full Hookup, 15/30/50 amp, Back-in.
    • The sites at this park were on the smaller side but it was big enough for us to fit. It was a smaller park in a bigger city so that was not much of a surprise.
    • We had a dumpster that was within walking distance, which is always nice.
    • Picnic tables with paved slab.
  • Campground ⭐⭐⭐⭐
    • It was in a great location, just far enough from Tampa that you were not stuck in traffic every time you left the park but it was really easy to get to the surrounding cities.
    • Since this park was so close to Tampa there were a lot of long term residents and it was the first time we saw a lot of single wide trailers mixed with RVs and 5th-Wheels. At first we were not sure how we felt about this, but over the two weeks we were there, it grew on us and we would definitely stay there again.
    • The park was super full and since everyone was so close together it did feel a little busy.
    • We did have some evidence of mice in the storage area, they got into the big bag of mouse bait but did not stick around to set up shop.
  • Other People/Pets ⭐⭐⭐
    • There was a strip of grass along a fence that was good for walking Cazic and had poop bags.
    • Towards the end of our stay, a few families showed up that were together and the group of kids that came with them were out playing a lot in the afternoon/early evening. They were a little rowdy but nothing too bad.
  • Internet Connection ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
    • We used our T-Mobile internet and had a great connection. Satellite would have worked here as well.
  • Vibes ⭐⭐⭐⭐
    • It was nice to be so close to so much. The park itself was a little small, the amenities were bare minimum, and felt like the park could use a little love but the location made up for a lot.
