Acton, CA

This was by far the largest campground we have stayed at with just over 850 sites. It was also our first 4 week stay and it was really nice to be rooted in one place for the full 4 weeks. It gave us time to go have some fun but also get some much needed maintenance completed. The campground was in the desert and the weather was pretty nice for most part. It was hot during the day but the evening really cooled off as soon as the sun went down. It was very windy due to the large fluctuation in temperature.
The biggest downside was how dry the air was, we had to add a humidifier to our trailer air-care routine. We now have an air-purifier, dehumidifier, and humidifier.

This was also the first location it was warm enough to go to the pool and enjoy an evening swimming in the pool after work.
Labubu/Lafufu
If you have not seen the online discourse about Labubus, they are essentially the new beanie babies. They are fuzzy little creatures with vinyl faces. They come in blind boxes so you do not know what one you are getting. People put them on their bags or belts and will even dress them up or customize them. When they are released in store, the lines start at 3am and wraps around the building. The online releases sell out instantly. It can be incredibly difficult to get your hands on a genuine one that is not being resold far above retail prices.
Because of that, there is a huge market for fake Labubus known as Lafufus. Most places are selling these reproductions and telling people they are reproductions, so you know what you are getting. Some might argue the Lafufus are as much fun as the Labubu because there are some really bad ones out there. They are so badly made that they are adorable in their own unique way.
Dan and I have no interest in waking up at 3am or paying over retail to get a Labubu so we decided to have some fun with Lafufus. We also got them with the intent to customize so we are not destroying real Labubus.

The first one I decided to makeover I wanted to keep looking fairly similar to how it already looked. I used acetone to remove all the face painting. I also added some more stuffing to help fill her out and make her look less deflated. I redid the stitching to the ears to make them look more even. After some lashes and tooth gems, I had myself a little Lafufu diva.

Crochet
I am still working on crochet and made a few little guys while we were in Acton. The first one is a grey tabby cat that is dressed up as Bluey. I also made a rabbit with a flower crown and a cute little pastel Baphomet.

Knott’s Berry Farm

I have been wanting to visit Knott’s Berry Farm for years. I really want to go during the Boysenberry Festival to try all the food but the timing did not work out this time. I am still glad we were able to go and I definitely had my fill of boysenberry food. The boysenberry is a cross between the red raspberry, blackberry and loganberry.
The park had a handful of sections with the most famous one being Ghost Town. It is a replica of what an old gold mining town may have looked like. There were a lot of actors dressed up and acting out scenes. While we were in the Calico Saloon grabbing a drink, there was a shootout.
The only IP owned by Knott’s is Snoopy, so there is also a section dedicated to that. The other sections are Fiesta Village, Charleston Circle, and the Boardwalk.

Rides
We only did two rides during this visit, mostly because the lines were long and it was not worth it to to us to wait in such long lines for generic roller coasters. We are planning on going to Universal later this year, so we will get in our roller coaster adrenaline rush at that time. Knowing we are planning on big rides later this year, we did some smaller rides that were located in Ghost Town and felt specific to Knott’s.
Calico Mine Ride
In the way that “It’s A Small World” is a classic ride for Disney, this felt like that but for Knott’s. It was a slow moving ride in ore cars that showed what a working gold mine would have looked like.

Calico Railroad
This was a ride around the park on an authentic train used in the early 1900’s. The train is robbed by bandits on each trip.

Food
One of my goals was to try as many boysenberry things as possible.
- Loaded Tater Tots
- No boysenberry in these but still pretty tasty
- Boysenberry Stuffed Churro
- Definitely enjoyed this and would get one again
- Boysenberry Vodka Mule
- I got this at the Saloon and it was very mediocre. It was a canned vodka mule with boysenberry syrup added.
- Boysenberry Juice
- Delicious
- Boysenberry Pie (to go)
- Also berry good
After we finished in the park we went over to Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. It has been open since 1930 and is known for its fried chicken. After all the fried food I had in the park, I was not in the mood for fried chicken but my dinner was still amazing
- Boysenberry Lemondrop Martini
- This was actually made at a bar with fresh ingredients and was worlds better than the mule I had earlier in the day
- Tri-Berry “Boysenberry” Salad With Loganberry Dressing topped with Chicken Breast
- Greens and chopped romaine lettuce, red raspberries, blackberries, toasted almonds, and goat cheese served with a loganberry vinaigrette.
- 10/10, so good. I love a fresh berry salad with goat cheese and it was the perfect end to a berry filled day.
Shopping
Since we were not able to make the trip during the boysenberry festival I wanted to make sure we picked up some boysenberry treats and sauces to go home.
- Boysenberry BBQ Sauce
- Delicious, had on some ribs
- Boysenberry Syrup
- Also very good, had on some pancakes
- Boysenberry Balsamic Grilling Glaze
- Really enjoyed this one too, had on some chicken
- Boysenberry Popcorn
- This one was confusing for me, it was like kettle corn tossed in a berry powder. I did not finish the bag.
- Boysenberry Gummy Bears
- These were okay. I think they were the best when the bag was first opened. After they sat for a few days there seemed to be a light chemical flavor. I also did not finish the bag of these.
- Boysenberry Soft Caramel
- These were the best of the sweet treat by far

Dan’s Birthday
We celebrated Dan’s birthday on July 15th. He collects all things Harley Quinn so I made a crochet Harley for him. This was a pretty ambitious project for me considering I had only made a few things at this point but I got it done and I was happy with how it came out! I was able to work on it when he was busy with other things so he did not know I was making it.

Lucha Libre
Dan is the kind of person who likes to go out and do something fun for his birthday (can’t relate, I would rather stay in and avoid people.) Since Acton is a super small town and there is not a lot going on we decided to drive into Palmdale and go to a Lucha Libre wrestling match. It was in a local brewery and ended up being a lot of fun. The brewery had some really great beer and I wish I could go back for more. When it came to the wrestling, I was not sure what to expect since I had never been to an event like this but I really enjoyed it and the crowd was great.

Maintenance Completed
- Sealed holes in roof membrane. While on the roof, discovered a soft spot that indicated some water damage near the bathroom skylight.
- Replaced screws in hitch that were starting to strip.
- Conditioned fridge door seals to help keep the cold air in.
- Repaired rips in awning with tarp repair tape.
- Added a new drying rack in the bathroom that can fold out into the shower for really damp items.
- Drained and flushed the hot water heater. Replaced the anode rod. I may have replaced it a little prematurely but they are inexpensive and better safe than sorry

- Added fans to exterior fridge vents to help with air circulation and attempted to add a fan to the interior but could not get it to work and gave up after multiple days of fiddling .

- Replaced grey tank pull handle that had been broken since I purchased the 5th wheel. The tank valve itself still functioned but the plastic handle was broken off making it more difficult to open and close.

- Put a bandaid on the above mentioned skylight issue. You can see in the first photo where some of the wood has receded due to water damage. The damage on the roof was not visible but when I took a step near the sky light it felt like I was about to go through the roof. The interior of the skylight had started to lift so after a nice warm shower all the condensation that built up on the skylight would run off into the hole. I patched up the skylight and started to plan on how to tackle the water damage on the roof.

Overall Rating ⭐⭐⭐
Stay Duration: 4 weeks – July 5, 2025 – August 2, 2025
Weather: Sunny, hot, and dry – Temperature Range: 55-103 – Average Temp: 90

- Site B-92 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Full Hookup, 15/30/50 amp, Pull-thru.
- This site was a little uneven and we had to re-hitch and pull forward so the auto-level would work. The main reason this spot gets 4 stars is because it is right under a tree. Shade in the desert is a luxury and it definitely helped keeping cool inside when it was over 100 outside.
- Picnic table was provided. No fires allowed.
- Campground ⭐⭐
- This campground is fairly remote and 30 min from a proper town.
- There are a ton of red ant piles and one of the first days at this location, Cazic was bitten by a red ant. After a few days of Benadryl he was fine but he was very upset about it for a while.
- On top of the red ants, there are a ton of sand spurs. On almost every walk with Cazic I pull at least one spur out of his paw pads. They would also get lodged in shoes and tracked in for you to step on later when barefoot.
- With all the wind and it being the desert, there was a ton of sand that would get kicked up in the evening. So even though it was cooling down, it was not a lot of fun to walk around while getting pelted with sand.
- Packages were allowed but had a $10 fee, even if it was a RV part. Since I was doing some maintenance I needed to order a few things and we really racked up a lot in fees.
- The park had a lot of amenities, but even in peak season, not all were up and running due to being understaffed.
- Other People/Pets ⭐⭐⭐
- There was one woman with two dogs that she would leave tied up outside. In addition to that when she was walking them, she only lashed one of them. If you have been here a little while you know this is a pet peeve of mine.
- Over the weekends the tent areas would fill out with large families. One group had karaoke and an inflatable screen for a projector. Thankfully we were far enough away from the tent areas that the noise didn’t impact us.
- Internet Connection ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- We did not have any cell service here and had to use Starlink. Once we got it up and running the connection was steady and fast. The only interruption was due to a global Starlink outage. Thanks, Elon. Looking around the park, Starlink is definitely the provider of choice in this area.
- Vibes ⭐⭐⭐
- It was really nice to be in the same spot for 4 weeks. It was also really nice to be in warm weather again. The coast of CA was really nice, but it was not warm enough for me to wear shorts and a t-shirt. Since the weather is so dry and there is a breeze every night, the heat is not as bad as you think it would be. I was very happy in this weather.
- I was able to get a lot done from the ever growing maintenance list and that always helps me to feel a bit accomplished.
